CM Presents the Telangana Excellence Award
The Hon'ble Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on the eve of the 71st Independence Day, presented the Telangana Excellence Award to Dr RS Praveen Kumar, Secretary, for his outstanding work in efficiently running the social welfare and the tribal welfare residential schools, and inspiring the children from the most depressed sections of the society to think big and aim high in life even in the face of abject poverty and unfavourable circumstances.
The State government will be introducing a new tradition of honouring the All India Service (AIS) officers in the State for excellent performance programmes meant for people’s welfare on the occasion of Independence Day celebrations. For the first time, the State government has selected four AIS officers for the Chief Minister’s award. Under IPS category, senior officer Dr RS Praveen Kumar has been selected for the award for efficiently running social welfare residential schools and monitoring several students in their career. A drastic change was observed in the functioning of residential schools of social welfare and the students of residential schools bagged many laurels including climbing Mount Everest. The number of students selected for MBBS, NIT and other courses had also registered impressive growth.
Dr R S Praveen Kumar is the architect of various innovative programmes hitherto unheard of in the annals of the government education sector in independent India. The Secretary introduced several path-breaking programmes like E-Plus Clubs, Super Students’ Lecture Series on MANA TV, Student Councils, Swaeroes Ten Commandments, Green Gurus, Operation Blue Crystal (OPBC), Impact, Quest, Karadipath, Robotics, Information Kiosks, Teaching Assistants, Summer Samurai camps and Operation Mt. Everest, Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Elbrus to bring out the inherent potential among the students.
