TTW IIT Study Centre, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad

Objectives of Establishing the Institute:

        The IIT Study Centre for STs has been established under the aegis of Gurukulam, Tribal Welfare, Government of Telangana in the academic year 2011-12. The Study Centre is residential in nature. The centre has been set up with a view to achieve academic standards of tribal students so that they will secure admissions into the premier institutions such as IIT, NIT, JIPMER, AIIMS etc. and so on. The Study Centre is located up the hills amidst sylvan surroundings in Rajendranagar. It aims at imparting coaching in the optional subjects with IIT and Medical orientation along with the regular syllabus of Intermediate course.


        The Selection of students will be made through Common Entrance Test conducted for IIT Study Centre and SOEs / COEs. The will be conducted in the month of April / May in 10th standard.

The intake capacity is restricted to 90 seats for this year. (60) Sixty seats are earmarked for MPC in two sections while (30) thirty seats for BPC. The students hail from various districts encompassing all the regions in the state. For the academic year 2011-12 only boys are given admission and it is decided to admit girl students also from next year as the full-fledged infrastructural facilities will be made available.


Furniture such as dining tables, kitchenware, cots and beds, classroom tables, library tables etc have provided.

Further the following amenities are provided to the students in this Centre.

  • Free accommodation and food for the wards.
  • Two pairs of uniform, shoe, belt and tie.
  • Cosmetics for every month.
  • Cots and beds for all students.
  • To and fro charges to go to their native places for holidays.
  • Text books, note books and study material for competitive examinations.
  • A new and permanent vehicle for use in emergency times.

        A separate menu has been prepared enhancing with a hike of 40% of the per capita than the students of general colleges for diet expenses of this Study Centre keeping in view their stress and strain in academics and other activities. Hence efforts are on to provide them special and nutritious diet.

Health & Hygiene:

        A qualified ANM has been appointed to look after the health of the wards round the clock. Every care is taken to maintain hygienic conditions in the premises.

        Special cases are referred to the NIMS and corporate hospitals.

Selection of Faculty:

        The teaching faculty has been selected through a written test followed by interviews and demonstration classes. Qualified, competent and well-experienced lecturers from the Gurukulam institutions have been selected and posted and an incentive of Rs.5,000/-per month is provided to the faculty . The faculty members are also selected on outsourcing basis and are paid attractive remuneration basing on their qualifications and experience.

All the staff members shall stay on the campus and work with commitment and dedication to achieve the targets.

Training of the Faculty:

         The selected staff members will be given continuous, comprehensive orientation on IIT and other subject areas to update their knowledge under the able guidance of Sri Chukka Ramaiah, MLC, a noted educationist and academic advisor to the institutions of excellence, Gurukulam.

Daily Routine:

        The academic schedule has been devised with a distinct plan and a different almanac. The daily routine include physical education and yoga in the early hours followed by Milk, break fast, class room instruction, lunch, study hours, daily test and night study.

Examinations and Evaluation:

        Tests based on IIT and IPE pattern are conducted every week. The performance of the students is assessed, evaluated and reviewed regularly and the progress of the wards shall be communicated to the parents and the officials.


        Different committees are constituted for effective and smooth functioning of the institution. Students are involved in all the committees like academic, welfare and food to promote transparency and democratic values.


        The Study Centre is well-equipped with highly recommended books of popular writers and reputed publications. Newspapers and magazines are kept available for the students and staff to update their knowledge and awareness with regard to the changes that occur in the competitive examinations from time to time.

Recreational Activities:

        Games and Sports are a part of our curriculum on holidays. Sight-seeing tours are arranged once a month. Literary and cultural activities are also encouraged to bring out innate the talents the students for all round development.
